Originally from the north-east, Jeff is a graduate physicist and began his working life teaching that subject. He was a teacher for eighteen years ending up as headteacher of a school near Huddersfield. Coming to faith through the ministry of a colleague and at a Guest Service in York led by David Watson, Jeff became a leader of young people’s work in his local church and was admitted as a Reader in Wakefield Diocese in 1986.
In 1991 he moved with his wife and three daughters to Chester where he took up the post of Diocesan Director of Education. His ministry involves supporting the 116 Church of England schools in the Diocese. In recognition of his service, Jeff was made a Lay Canon of Chester Cathedral. He is also Deputy President of the University of Chester.
Jeff and his wife Margaret now have three grandsons and although retirement now looms, his greatest delight is still to see young people learn about the Saviour of the world and come to faith in Him.
