Our annual church weekend away is one of the highlights of the All Saints calendar.
For two nights each year around 120 members of the church family – from the tiniest tots to our most senior members – decamp to the stunning surroundings of Cloverley Hall near Whitchurch in Shropshire.
What goes on?
The weekend house party starts on Friday evening with a buffet supper. Then, suitably refreshed, there’s an introduction to our guest speaker and a time for worship, followed by a chance to unwind and chat.
Saturday begins with a mammoth breakfast followed by teaching, learning and worship – with a break for coffee, of course! After lunch the afternoon is free time; people take part in a variety of activities including visits to local places of interest, long walks, short walks, swimming and even occasionally a canal boat trip or a chance for a flight in a private plane! However, you don’t have to do anything – plenty of people stay behind to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Cloverley Hall, chat, relax and catch up with church friends.
Saturday night is party night – everything from murder mysteries and quizzes to games, a film, a barn dance or even a bonfire.
Sunday begins with All Age Worship and finding out what the children have done. After coffee there are seminars and after lunch is the communion service. The children begin in their groups but return for the communion part of this service.
Afternoon tea signals the end of our time for another year – and for organiser Vicki Bulgin work starts again to plan the next one.
The church weekend is an ideal way to spend time with friends, get to know members of the church family and develop faith through an impressive list of guest speakers.
Furthermore, because we take ‘family’ seriously, activities are arranged throughout for all ages of children and young people from crèche for the tinies to the special sessions for the teenagers by a dedicated group of youth and children’s workers.
