Waterways Chaplaincy
Thank you for your support at my commissioning on 20th November.
– Jim Ellis, church member
I mentioned a boater who was in some difficulty. I am pleased to tell you that a member of the church family kindly donated a bag of coal which I was able to give to the boater to heat their boat, which will tide them over until their next
benefit payment is received.
Please remember me and the work of the Waterways Chaplaincy in your prayers and, if you would like information on other ways to support the ministry and help look after boaters in need, do please catch me in church or give me a call.

News from Hoole Church of England Primary School
Our school was used as a polling station last Thursday. We took this as a wonderful chance to provide our pupils with the chance to experience democracy in action for themselves.
– Roasalind Flanders, Headteacher
Our school election was organised by our school council, the House of Hoole. Children were allocated roles including vote counters and election officers. The election was based on the following two questions: Should we change our school badge? Should we change our class names?
The school badge was designed by Mrs Scorer who served the school as Headteacher some years ago. Our classes are named after trains – we have Shinkansen, TGV, Mallard, Flying Scotsman, Pendolino and Irish Mails to name just
a few. The train names for classes have also been in place for many years. Apparently they originated based on the fact that there was once a train station in Hoole.
The election officers ran the election with diligence, checking names from the list before issuing ballot papers. Children then entered polling booths to cast their votes and put them safely in the polling box. The boxes were held very securely
during lunchtime to avoid any risk of tampering!
In the afternoon our team of counters were busy tallying up the results. On Friday morning, our returning officers and House of Hoole representatives announced the results to our school family.
The outcome of the vote is that we will be changing our school badge and class names over the coming year. I will keep you posted on developments! Thank you for your prayers and good wishes for our school family.
